When people are first exposed to chiropractic care, many are surprised at the shortness of a visit to the chiropractor. Our society has become accustomed to the idea that ‘more is better’. The chiropractic adjustment only takes several minutes.
An adjustment is the word used to describe the process by which the chiropractor helps the body’s own spinal muscles move the slightly misaligned spinal bone back to its healthy position. Yet there are 5 years of training, and in my case, over 30 years of experience that go into that adjustment. And while it’s true that the chiropractic adjustment is done quickly, the effects can be life changing. The results of this short procedure can last a lifetime.
There is another important concept to understand with regard to the adjustment. The importance of the adjustment is what the body does in response to the correction of the slight misalignments of the bones of the spine, known as vertebral subluxations. The vertebral subluxation causes the entire body to function at less than its potential. This is no small thing.
The chiropractic adjustment corrects a vertebral subluxation and gives the body the potential to once again regenerate depleted tissues, heal itself, and return to a state of optimal healthy functioning. This is why the chiropractic procedure is so important, regardless of the small amount of time it takes to do it.
